Biomedical breakthrough wave

E HealthDemographics and human capitalResilience and crisis preparednessAI, cyber and digital

Several medical advances reach scale in the same five years: cheap generic obesity and diabetes drugs, long-acting HIV prevention, effective malaria vaccines, personalised cancer vaccines and the first medicines designed by AI. Together they cut the burden of the main killers by a fifth in countries that deploy them and add years of healthy life. Health systems shift from treatment to prevention. The gains depend on price, manufacturing and delivery, so they arrive first where systems already work. Longer lives strain pensions and care, and industries built on chronic disease shrink.
